Stronger Together: Our Bargaining Momentum Is Building

Brothers and Sisters,
We’re writing to keep you informed as your Bargaining Committee continues to meet at the table. Every day, we walk into negotiations backed by your strength and your solidarity on the shop floor. We heard CEO Jim Cannon at the town hall. The company is going to keep producing here. They're going to keep making money off the trucks we build. They’re relying on us to deliver for their customers — new and old. The company’s future depends on the work we do every day. They need us more than ever. And that gives us power — if we stand together and use it.
WHAT WE’RE BRINGING TO THE TABLE:
Your Committee made it crystal clear today: No Concessions. Our members have spoken, and we are carrying your message into every discussion — that this contract needs to move us forward, not backward. This is our time to earn the respect and security that we’ve worked hard for.
Today, we were joined by bargaining strategists from UAW President Shawn Fain’s office — the same team that helped deliver record contracts at Daimler, Allison Transmission, Rolls Royce, Cornell University, and General Dynamics-Electric Boat. That experience is now backing us up here at AM General.
What’s fueling this fight? You!
When you wear RED on Wednesdays.
When you talk to coworkers about what’s at stake.
— You remind them: the power is in the membership.
We know this fight isn’t easy. But history shows us — when we stand together, we win.
WHAT WE'RE HEARING FROM THE COMPANY:
Management is still approaching bargaining like its business as usual. They continue to push for a tiered workforce, divisions between facilities, and are unwilling to discuss the realities of our members' lives. They seem to believe that no matter what they offer, the membership will accept it.
But that’s not the reality on the shop floor. That’s not where we are anymore!
WHAT COMES NEXT:
The bargaining table is only one part of this fight. Our real power comes from the membership, united and active. That’s why:
- You’ll get open updates after bargaining sessions.
- The Committee will be at the turnstiles on Tuesday, July 15, with more information and pro-union materials.
- Keep wearing RED on Wednesdays — management watches what we do.
- Stay tuned for our upcoming text and website updates.
This year will be different — but only if we make it different.
We are strongest when we are informed, united, and standing up together.
We won’t settle for anything less than what we deserve — and we won’t stop fighting until we secure the contract you’ve earned.
Stay strong. Stay loud. Stay Union.
In Solidarity,
Your UAW Local 5 Bargaining Committee
