Our Work, Our Worth

Brothers and Sisters,

Your Bargaining Committee is here for one reason: to protect you, your seniority, and the jobs you’ve fought to hold. We refuse to let the company treat us like we are just another “labor pool.” We are the UAW! We set the standard! We are NOT just numbers on a schedule. We are skilled, experienced, and we have earned the right to be respected.

We bid into jobs to preserve our bodies after years of physical demands building the very vehicles that protect America’s men and women fighting abroad. These trucks are hand-built; they don’t roll off some automated line. They exist because of us. It’s our sweat, our blood, and our dedication that have kept this company alive.

This week at the table, we pushed hard on job security, abuse of line speeds, and overloaded jobs. What we saw was clear: the people making decisions about our future don’t even understand what we do or what it takes to get the job done. There’s no compassion, no empathy — just pressure to “get it done.” That attitude stops here.

Let’s be clear: management has come and gone, but for 20-plus years, the constant has been us, the workers. We are the backbone of this company. We are the reason the lights stay on and the paychecks clear. We are relevant, and we cannot — and will not — allow them to treat us as anything less.

Our labor doesn’t come cheap. Our commitment isn’t free. It’s time for this company to recognize our worth, respect our sacrifices, and deliver a contract that reflects the value we bring every single day.

And now, brothers and sisters — the clock is ticking. We are quickly closing in on the expiration of our contract. Your Bargaining Committee will bring you only a real, non-concessionary contract. You’ve been clear, and we’ve heard you loud and strong: if it looks like a concession, it’s a NO VOTE. You are our strength. We are your voice. Together, we will not bend. We will not break. And we will not back down.

In Solidarity,
Your UAW Local 5 Bargaining Committee
